How To Make Stuffed Mushrooms

I love me some appetizers. Call me a glutton, but there’s nothing better than going to a party and discovering a whole spread of yumminess to dig into (and that’s even before the main dishes come out!). So of course, in light of all the holiday parties that you’ll either be hosting or attending, I’ve decided to share a how-to for making an easy appetizer that’s always a hit at parties: stuffed mushrooms.

But before I get started, let me say that I’m not a fan of doing a whole lot of work in the kitchen, especially when it comes to appetizers. Since I like to offer my guests a bunch of different options, I need all of the appetizers to be quick & easy. That means using shortcut ingredients, like frozen veggies and puff pastry cups, or even adding already-made frozen appetizers to the menu. It doesn’t get better than heat-and-eat, and with so many different varieties of appetizers in the freezer case, it’s always easy to find something to help fill in my menu. With that being said, let’s learn:

How to Make Stuffed Mushrooms

Step One: Gather your ingredients: baby bella mushrooms, butter, onion, garlic, frozen creamed spinach, frozen precooked sausage crumbles, and Italian bread crumbs.

You’ll need to remove the stems from your mushroom caps, so that you can stuff the mushrooms later on. Good news: The stems don’t go to waste. Just chop these up and mix them in with all the other yummy stuffing ingredients.

Step Two: In a large skillet, sauté your chopped mushrooms, onion, and garlic in butter until everything is nice and tender. (Resist the urge to dive into the skillet – it smells so good!)

Step Three: Add in your thawed creamed spinach and sausage crumbles, making sure to mix everything together so that it’s well combined. Then, take it off the heat and mix in your bread crumbs.

Using frozen creamed spinach and frozen, precooked sausage crumbles means that this step is done in just minutes.

Step Four: Place your mixture on top of each mushroom cap, using a spoon to make little mounds.

Step Five: Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Once they’re done, you can place them on your favorite party platter and serve to your guests.
